A Day in the Life of a Surf Instructor at Morocco Surf & Stay

Ever wonder what it’s like to live the dream of surfing every day while helping others catch their very first wave? At Morocco Surf & Stay, our surf instructors are the heart and soul of the camp. They are the first friendly faces you see in the morning and the ones who share in the excitement of your first successful ride.
More than just teachers, they are passionate surfers, patient mentors, and your local guides to the magic of Morocco. Here’s a glimpse into a typical day in the life of one of our surf instructors:

Sunrise: The Daily Surf Report

The day starts early, even before the first rays of sun hit the water.
  • Morning Check: The instructor is up before breakfast, checking the surf forecast, tides, and swell reports. They’ll drive to a couple of different beaches, assessing the conditions with their own eyes to determine the best spot for the day’s lessons.

  • Daily Plan: They’ll decide on the perfect beach for each group, whether it’s a beginner-friendly spot like Crocro Beach or a more challenging break for our intermediate surfers.

Morning: The Lesson Begins

After a quick, energizing breakfast with the guests, it’s time to head to the beach.
  • Warm-Up & Theory: At the chosen beach, the instructor leads a fun and dynamic warm-up session. They then give a quick, clear theory lesson on the sand, covering safety, technique, and what to look for in the water.

  • In the Water: The real work and fun begin! Our instructors are in the water with you, offering hands-on help, tips, and encouragement. They’ll paddle with you, push you into waves, and celebrate every single success.

  • Constant Feedback: They have a keen eye, spotting small changes in your stance or paddle technique that can make a huge difference in your progression.

Afternoon: Refuel & Relax

The morning lesson is physically demanding for both students and instructors.
  • Beachside Lunch: After a morning in the waves, everyone gathers for a well-deserved, delicious beachside lunch. This is a great time for the instructor to chat with guests, answer questions, and share their love for the local area.

  • Nap Time: A quick post-lunch power nap is a must for both students and instructors to recharge for the afternoon ahead.

  • Free Surf or Excursion: In the afternoon, the instructor might either take the more advanced guests out for a free surf session or join the non-surfing group for a cultural excursion to Paradise Valley or Agadir.

Evening: Dinner, Debrief & Community

As the sun sets over the Atlantic, the day’s events are shared and celebrated.
  • Video Analysis: For intermediate and advanced groups, the instructor will often conduct a video analysis session. This is a fantastic teaching tool where they can review the day’s footage, offering visual feedback and personalized tips to help you level up your surfing.

  • Dinner Together: Everyone comes together for a healthy, home-cooked Moroccan dinner. This is the perfect time for instructors to share stories from the day, and for guests to relax and socialize.

  • The Surf Forecast for Tomorrow: The instructor will give a quick forecast for the next day, building excitement for the waves to come.

Being a surf instructor is more than just a job; it’s a passion. It’s about sharing a love for the ocean, the waves, and the incredible culture of Morocco. The dedicated and friendly team at Morocco Surf & Stay is what makes your surf holiday truly unforgettable.
